Education Reputation Writer

Are you feeling trapped because no one outside your district knows what you have accomplished?

Are you worried that your unique strengths and skills aren’t easily found online, and that a weaker candidate with personal connections will get the new job you want?

Are you concerned that your team will find out that you’re searching for a new position before you’re ready to leave, making you less effective and perhaps preventing you from moving at all?

Hire a writer to help tell your story

You need to create a strong narrative about your accomplishments. Easily searchable online stories about your skills and beliefs help you earn the promotion or raise you deserve.

You could take the time to do this writing yourself, but you are already busy helping to run a school.

So tell the story to an experienced writer – a published author – and let me do the work, while you do your work.

And when it is time to move to a new position, even one in a new district, your unofficial resume will be in plain sight for your prospective employer.

“You told the story better than I ever could, and I must have told it 100 times. I can’t wait to share this on my LinkedIn profile!”

Your reputation, told your way

It starts with a structured consultation with a writer who spent 25 years in education.

I ask you a few questions in an easy, informal conversation. You tell me about the accomplishments and qualities that capture the essence of who you are.

Then I create a plan for how to prepare your online reputation, while you do the legwork to get ready for your next move.

What stories do you want to tell? Where should you share them?

Walk away with a plan that makes you  shine online.

Principals and superintendents looking to switch jobs face a lot of challenges. Start your search discreetly by building your reputation online. Stock Photo by Max Fischer from Pexels, not an actual client. Anonymity guaranteed.

You tell me the story. I ask you questions that help make the story more interesting for the reader, and make you shine. Then I will discreetly, anonymously, write that story for you. I will listen to your experiences and tell your stories in an engaging, easy-to-read way.

You share the stories yourself, on social media, or even in your own school or district publications. With you listed as the author.

Let me be your ghost writer.

What is a ghost writer?

A ghost writer is a writer who listens to or researches someone else’s life story, then writes all or part of it down. Then they let the other person take full credit for writing it.

Many celebrities publish memoirs that are written entirely by one or more professional writers. They pay the writer for the work, with a bonus ghost writing or for doing the work without getting credit.

Writing a book or even a blog post or newspaper article starts with a great story, sure. But it also takes time, and writing skill. So if you lack the time or the skill to tell your story in a compelling and engaging way, a way that highlights your strengths and beliefs as an educator, a ghost writer is the answer.

A ghost writer tells your story the best possible way.

Your facts, and many of your own words. A ghost writer fills in the gaps. And carries the weight of completing the work, so you can focus on your daily work.

Then you share the story with your name as the writer.

“Jack, these articles are great. Each one stands on its own, and together they tell the whole story about how we got the community together and got [redacted] built.”

How can I build my reputation?

When someone searches your name on Google, the articles they see help shape their opinion of you. Most often, the first items that show up are social media profiles – Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram are common front page items.

Or else they find the profile you wrote for you school or district website.

Or, worse, they find your name in an article about some controversy at your school that got media attention. There is no chance to tell the whole story – unless you tell it. Online.

The media story always emphasizes conflict and problems.

However, by sharing your own story in your own words, you take control of the narrative. When you talk about your accomplishments and values online, you are building your own resume in plain sight. It inspires and encourages those who work with you, and it makes you visible to potential future employers.

How do you hire a ghost writer?

  1. Visit various sites of writers who do this work. (For instance, you arrived here at this site.)
  2. Look at other things they have written. (Jack’s writing is available at angelsandsuperheroes.com, on Medium.com, at his blog on his website, and his book is available at a library or bookstore near you.)
  3. Look at their background and experience. Do they have direct knowledge about the type of work you do?
  4. Examine their prices and options.
  5. Schedule a conversation with them.
  6. Commit to a strategy and implement it together.

Many professional educators are looking to solve a very specific problem: how do I improve my online and professional reputation?

You can do this by acquiring more degrees, of course. This works, but as you climb, you will find yourself in a more crowded room. How can you distinguish yourself?

By writing articles that show what you have learned, how you have grown, what you understand, and how to solve the problem facing us at this moment.
